July 30 What's OnIt's a cold, misty day and I'm spending it at the beautiful Rushworth Community House, where I volunteer to work as a receptionist on Mondays (and some Fridays). This weekend I am going to The Barn at Bickley's with about a dozen other women, as an introduction to the Leading Waranga Women program. This program will run for six months and we will aim to organise an event which will enhance the local community and help the individuals involved to develop and reach their potential. I'm really looking forward to it. July 17 Cheese WhirlsAll right, all right, Bernie, I'll put a recipe on my blog. Now will you get off my back?!
CHEESE WHIRLS
Ingredients:
1 packet of frozen puff pastry
6 eggs
2 cups grated tasty cheese
6 rashers of bacon
1 medium onion, finely chopped
Method:
Lay pastry sheets out flat to thaw. Mix eggs, cheese, bacon and onion together in a bowl. You'll have to regulate the number of eggs and amount of other ingredients, to get the consistency you want. It's a bit of trial and error. Spread gooey mixture evenly over all the pastry sheets, then roll up like a swiss roll. Return to the freezer for about half an hour until it has become firm. Cut into thin slices (not too thin) and place on an oven tray lined with non-stick baking paper. Bake in a moderate oven for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Note:
You can put whatever ingredients you like in this recipe. Try some chopped parsely or other herbs, or sundried tomatoes and olives. Be creative. You can also cook them until they're just pale golden, then take them out to a party and re-heat them in your host's oven. Enjoy! but not too many, because they're packed with saturated fats, which could kill you!! |
