Mondayitis

Today I scanned some photos at the Rushworth Community House.  One was of my late father-in law, David McIntosh.  It was taken in the year 1911 when he was nine months old and he looks just like one of his grandchildren at the same age.  It's actually a postcard sent to Toolleen post office.  It's in a state of ill repair, so I'll spend 2009 fixing it up.  It'll give me something to do.  The other one was taken of my family in January 1965 when I was 6 months old and Mike, the eldest, (of 7 kids) was 12.  It's historical, partly because it features the newly erected Kodak factory in the background.  The other one wasn't a photo, but it's a recipe from the Brownie Guide Handbook for Fairy Cakes, hich is politically incorrect these days.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year, one and all.  I would just like to add that I was the one who handed over a wad of 50 dollar notes for the X box/ Guitar Hero package.  The good thing is that we were able to put the DVD player on the other TV as the xbox doubles as a dvd player for the kids' tv, if that makes sense, which it probably doesn't!  That nine msn is utter, utter, utter trash.  It's all part of a social engineering program to render people ignorant and apathetic, thereby making it easier for the totalitarian dictators to gain total control of the universe.  Dr Evil is behind the whole thing.  I heard this morning on the radio that the cattlemen who were kicked out of the Barmah forest will receive no compensation, but the timberworkers who have been put out of a job will.  It's good to know that the Labor Government are so committed to working with farmers, isn't it?!  Meanwhile, the greenies who so desparately fought to 'save the forest' are conveniently ignorant of the fact that thousands of trees have been sacrificed to make way for the ns pipeline, but I guess there's no political gain in protesting about that.  I'm such a cynical old bitch these days!  I'm really quite a nice person, actually, but then even the nicest people on this earth have their dark sides.

Plug the Pipe

Well, we don't want to plug the pipe, we don't want it to be built in the first place.  It is a waste of money and it's going to produce tons of carbon emissions.  It is the wrong thing to do on about twenty different levels.  People carry on about the "poor, unfortunate farmers" and in the next breath talk about stealing water from us to fill Melbourne's water storages because the government refuses to build any more dams, while continuing to deliberately attract more residents to Melbourne. These so called "water savings" that are supposed to come out of the irrigation upgrade will not be seen for another 8 years and that's only if we receive higher than average rainfall, yet the pipe is being built already.  This proves that the government intends to pipe water to Melbourne even if there is not enough left for the country.  This is theft in anyone's language, and yet, thousands of people stand idly by and let this happen.  Do something about it!  Talk to your local member of parliament and demand an explanation as to why landowners are having their rights abused in the name of the Almighty Brumby Government.  Wake up Australia!!

WOW! It's the Women Of Waranga

O.K. so here's the report from last Friday's L.W.W. session.  It was held at the Waranga Hospital in the day room.  First up we had a couple of women speaking about philanthropy, which is a big word which means that an individual of a business wants to give money back to the community without receiving anything in return.  Actually, they do receive something, because it makes it look like they're helping people, which makes consumers want to buy their products.  Sylvia Admans, from F.R.R.R. spoke about her Foundation for Regional and Rural Renewal, which links small community groups to many different foundations who can help financially.  The second Speaker, Jan Mahoney, then spoke about the aims of the Geoffrey Gardiner Foundation, which seeks to help dairy farming communities, which encompasses most of Victoria, apart from the Wimmera, where you can't see a bovine for miles.
